As we start the afterlunch session it is appropriate to feed back comments made by observers who have been present at team meetings adn negotiations.
The main concern is that many teams are not yet playing in role, and not being realistic in their acting out of the roles allocated to them.
Your briefing packages contain adequate background on which you should be basing your material. Please remember the instruction at the briefing sessions that you must play your role like a Method Actor - i.e. feel it in your gut, act it out so that, if necessary, it hurts.
No matter what team you are in you are representing people for whom the role is vital - to their wealth, their self-esteem, their reputations, their power and even, in some cases, the personal survival of themselves and their families. Some of these people are ruthless and vicious and will not hesitate to take extreme measures to advance their ends - and this lack of conscience is not necessarily confined to members of Government. Even decent people will have to fight tooth adn nail, yet within tier ethical framework, to achieve thier goals.
If Business, NGOs and Media fail to prosper then the consequences will be financial and may impact on future careers. Others may have even more vital interests at stake.
So if in any doubt go back to your briefing document and reassess how you are playing the role - adn then pull out the stops!
If in any doubt about how to do this please see the organisers.
