Literary Prize awarded to Prisoner of Conscience
The Protector, London, January 17th 2010
At a glittering awards ceremony in the Savoy Hotel last night this year's Thomas Hardy Prize for Literary Excellence was awarded to Thang Maun, the Thibawan poet and novelist who has been under house arrest since 2003.
The award was accepted on Mr.Maun's behalf by Britain's Nobel Prize for Literature Laureate Sir William Dodd, himself a novelist and keen advocate of human-rights.
"Thang Maun's continuing incarceration isn't just a blot on Thibaw's reputation," he said in an impassioned speech, "it's a standing challenge to British Companies which decide to do business in that oppressed country despite their loudly-touted claims about commitment to ethical business principles."
This attack by Sir William was immediately recognised as a thinly veiled attack on Wordsworth Energy.
Wordsworth's shares are currently trading at 321.
