Pipeline Through Vietnam can Jeopardize EnCathy’s Yengan Pass Plans
Dissident Underground (DU) is trying to bring NGOs and other welfare entities together to work against any kind of pipeline through the Yengan Pass.
They propose a pipeline through Vietnam. They also demand that the pipeline should be financed through project financing structure. This would not only prevent the ecological disturbance from taking place in the Yengan Pass but would also bring transparency to the oil and gas revenues earned by the government. They reiterate their commitment to peaceful means to achieve these goals, and seek a general consensus amongst NGOs on this issue.
They don’t seem hopeful of sudden regime change in the democratic direction. If these things materialize, EnCathy might face difficulties, while Wordsworth might get better public support. China is not expected to like this idea as it wants hydrocarbons to land on its territory; this might create strained international relations.
